- You currently work another job at an agency, in education, healthcare, or a community organization, and want a side position two evenings per week (5pm–9pm).

Eligible Licenses
🎓 We welcome applicants who are fully licensed, pending licensure, or provisionally licensed in the state of New Jersey:
Fully Licensed: LCSW, LPC, LMHC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD in NJ (active)
- Compensation:
- $115 per 60-minute session
- $85 per 45-minute session
Pending Licensure: LCSW, LPC, LMHC, LMFT (awaiting approval)
- Once licensure is approved and active, compensation will increase to the fully licensed rate:
- Compensation:
- $105 per 60-minute session
- $75 per 45-minute session
Provisionally Licensed: LSW, LAC, CSW, LAMFT (may be considered)
- All therapists must have completed their required clinical hours for licensure.
- Licensing exams do not need to be completed or passed at the time of hire.
- Mountains Therapy does not provide supervision toward licensure.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Must have two years of clinical experience with teens, adults, couples or families (preferred)
- Must be available to work two days per week, including late afternoons and/or evenings (5pm–9pm)
- In-person availability required for sessions at our office in Upper Montclair, NJ, with some telehealth sessions available
- All therapists must not be credentialed or paneled with insurance companies while working at Mountains Therapy
- We are an out-of-network, private-pay group practice providing high-quality, self-pay therapy services
🔑 RESPONSIBILITIES
- Part-time, fee-for-service with flexibility to grow your caseload over time
- Serve a varied caseload of teens (ages 13+), adults, couples, and families who are typically high-functioning and motivated
- Maintain availability in person at our office in Montclair, NJ, for at least 5 clinical hours per week, with some telehealth sessions as appropriate
- Be available for a minimum of two evenings per week (Monday–Thursday), with each shift lasting at least 2.5 hours between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM (specific time slots selected by the therapist)
- Complete a minimum of 5 psychotherapy sessions a week
- Provide psychotherapy sessions:
- 45-minute individual therapy sessions for teens (ages 13+) and adults
- 60-minute sessions for intakes, couples, and families
- Deliver evidence-based therapy tailored to client needs
- Provide identity-affirming, culturally responsive care
- Maintain clear, timely, and compliant documentation
- Complete all documentation within 48 hours via SimplePractice (EHR)
- Develop individualized treatment plans, diagnoses, and interventions (via Wiley Treatment Plan in Simple Practice)
- Participate in individual consultation as needed
- Respond promptly to client and team communication
- Stay current with best practices in psychotherapy
- Conduct a free 15-minute phone consultation with prospective clients (upon request)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional office space that reflects Mountains Therapy’s standards of care and confidentiality
- Therapists may hold other employment (e.g., education, healthcare, or community agencies) as long as it does not conflict with Mountains Therapy’s ethics, policies, or scheduling expectationsTherapists must demonstrate the ability to retain at least 70% of clients (8+ sessions) to ensure consistent, effective treatment engagement and outcomes

Core Clinical & Interpersonal Skills
- Strong ability to build and maintain therapeutic rapport
- Proficiency in evidence-based therapy modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, EFT, ACT, Mindfulness, etc.)
- Cultural competence and ability to provide identity-affirming care for diverse populations (LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC, etc.)
- Deep empathy and capacity for nonjudgmental listening
- Excellent clinical judgment and ability to formulate individualized treatment plans
- Ability to retain clients and maintain consistent engagement over time
- Crisis awareness — knowing when to refer clients to higher levels of care
- Skilled in goal setting, tracking progress, and adjusting interventions accordingly
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, ethics, and professional boundaries

- Ability to maintain long-term client relationships (12+ weeks) to support ongoing therapeutic progress and continuity of care

- Proficiency in evidence-based therapy modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, EFT, ACT, Mindfulness, etc.)
- Cultural competence and ability to provide identity-affirming care for diverse populations (LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC, etc.)
- Deep empathy and capacity for nonjudgmental listening
- Excellent clinical judgment and ability to formulate individualized treatment plans
- Crisis awareness — knowing when to refer clients to higher levels of care
- Skilled in goal setting, accessing progress, and adjusting interventions accordingly
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, ethics, and professional boundaries
- Ability to uphold healthy personal and professional boundaries while maintaining warmth, compassion, and respect in client relationships
Independent & Professional Practice Skills
- Comfort working independently while collaborating with team members as needed
- Excellent time management and ability to manage a caseload efficiently
- Ability to complete clinical documentation accurately and within deadlines (48 hours via SimplePractice)
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to manage billing, scheduling, and communication independently within practice systems
- Proactive mindset — able to anticipate client needs and follow up appropriately
- Accountability and reliability in maintaining client appointments and professional commitments
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and confidential office space
